Langley park on Sunday morning

This morning my son Nicholas and I decided we would try out the venue for this years Mothers Day Classic.  Langley Park was beautiful this morning...it always amazes me how many people are up and about so early, jogging, walking, rowing, bike riding...you name it.
I took a few photos of the venue in the gorgeous morning light.  Nicholas, my dog Noodle and I walked the 4km circuit and wonder now whether we should just walk the 4km's or the 8km circuit on the day.  I suppose we can try it out next time.  Anyway here is an early morning view of Langley Park!

Hello Perth - are you ready for the Mother's Day Classic 2011?

Hi everyone
I am thrilled to be writing the blog for the Perth Mother's Day Classic.  I am also excited to be spending Mother's Day with family and friends (and the rest of you) and do something positive on the day. There are only 42 more days until the big event and I hope you are all preparing yourselves for the day.  This is the first year I have been involved in the event.  I have friends and family who have participated and have heard all about it from them and all of them have positive stories to tell.  I am out of town next week participating in a national dragon boat regatta.  When I get back my focus will be to get myself ready for the big day.

Community events are a wonderful experience and I am busily recruiting people to take part.  No one is safe ...I am staking out my work colleagues, my son's school and also team members from my dragon boat crew - Perth Amazons.  I also just managed to talk my husband into being involved and my sister has volunteered to assist on the day.

As you can see from my bio, I have experienced breast cancer.  I have a great passion to raise awareness about breast cancer and other cancers in our communities.  It seems the the more I get to know people the more I see how prevalent breast cancer is.  Having said that the more I get involved the more I realise how many people are committed to research and to working towards hopefully getting a cure.  It is great how the community gets behind events like the Mother's Day Classic.

So...for the next 42 days I hope to share some training tips  and fundraising tips.  I will also keep you up to date with how I am going with co opting everyone I know to participate.

For now though, I would really love to hear what preparations you are doing for the MDC 2011...
